Presented by Jacqueline Cleary, PharmD, BCACP

Get in your 2 hours of Opioid/controlled substance CE before license renewal at the end of July!

VPA is offering Continuing Education for all pharmacists on Opioids, alternatives, pain management updates and risk management given by Jacqueline Cleary, PharmD on July 13th on Zoom from 6:00-8:00 pm. This counts for the required 2 hours of CE on controlled substances for license renewal of all Vermont pharmacists. It has been accredited/approved by the Vermont Board of Pharmacy.

The CDC recently released an update to the pain management guidelines in response to the backlash from the original 2016 release. This presentation will review how these guidelines are form, what is new in the 2022 release, and how pharmacists can apply this information in various patient care scenarios. New drug approvals, as well as medications looking to come to market in the pain space will also be reviewed. This presentation is designed to provide a timely update for pharmacists to know what is new in managing pain.

Registration is FREE for VPA members and $30 for nonmember pharmacists to attend. Register here and share this page with other pharmacists in the state!

Objectives:

1. Review the 2022 CDC guideline update on chronic pain management

2. Summarize guideline changes and relevance to pharmacy practice

3. Apply CDC pain management guideline updates to patient case scenarios

4. Examine newly approved medications for the treatment of pain such as Seglentis, Dsuvia, and Olinvyk

5. Discuss what is coming in new drug development to prepare the pharmacist for the next phase of the opioid

epidemic
